Mentoring Global Worker Children at Faith Academy

PAOC global workers, Caleb & Karyn, are so grateful for the opportunity to serve in the Philippines at Faith Academy. Currently, Caleb is investing in the lives of our middle school boys as their PE teacher, and Karyn is preparing for a transition into a new role as the High School Guidance Counselor.

As they reflect on their journey of over 20 years on the field, they often think about previous years when they served in a spiritually "dark" country. In that environment, the light they radiated felt starkly obvious because of the contrast. However, at a place like Faith Academy where "everyone" is a Christian, that contrast is less automatic. It requires Caleb and Karyn to work even harder to ensure their lives reflect a distinct, Christ-like light.

PRAY Caleb and Karyn would shine brightest in the "everyday." They want to put God’s agenda first in every conversation. Their goal is for every interaction - whether with students, parents, or the outside community - to be transformative, not just transactional.

PRAY for the gift of balance: Serving at an international school is a rigorous, high-energy calling. Caleb and Karyn often feel the lack of "down time." Please pray for wisdom as they navigate their responsibilities and seek a healthy balance between ministry and family life.

PRAY for soft hearts for their children: Caleb and Karyn’s deepest prayer for their three children is found in Ezekiel 36:26“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Please pray that they would always have soft, responsive hearts toward the Lord.

PRAY for direction for their soon-to- be high school graduate: Caleb and Karyn ask for specific prayer for their oldest son as he enters his final year of high school after this May. They want God’s perfect plan for his future. Ultimately, they pray that wherever his post-secondary studies take him, he would find himself growing even closer to Jesus.
