The city of Mogadishu is home to 20 million people with more than three quarters from the Somali people group. Very few Somali children attend school, and over half of the adults are illiterate. Droughts, famines, and wars have created numerous problems for the Somali people. We intercede for a lasting peace so they can form a stable, workable government.
Once a thriving port and cultural center, Mogadishu has been scarred by forty years of civil war and clan violence. The sound of gunfire has long been part of daily life, and deep wounds still divide tribes and communities.
Despite the danger, God is moving among these beautiful people bringing a hope that is stronger than fear.
PRAY for protection and endurance for believers who face persecution daily in Mogadishu.
PRAY for the downfall of extremist strongholds and the rise of God’s Kingdom across the Horn of Africa. (2 Corinthians 10:4–5)
PRAY for the Somali Church to grow in faith, wisdom, and boldness as they proclaim Jesus in the face of opposition.
