PAOC global workers, Ryan & Heather, serve in the Dominican Republic to empower, develop, and mentor pastors, leaders and families. Their aim is to fulfill their gospel mandate by reaching their communities for Christ. Here’s how they describe the opportunities and challenges that we can pray into.
Many ministries fill our days, each with a distinct focus. Heather oversees the Girls Empowerment Program, Family Centre ministry, and short-term team administration and preparation, while Ryan leads the farm and Bible College.
Now in its 10th year, the Girls of Destiny program has equipped more than 1000 girls in the Dominican Republic and has expanded to Colombia, Peru, and beyond—helping girls make wise choices and grow in Christ.
The Family Centre offers Pregnancy Care, Parenting classes and support and a thriving a High School ministry launched in 2023. Over 1,000 students have been reached, with many coming to faith. Students often begin disengaged but end the program open and honest about their struggles—an incredible move of God touching both youth and teachers. Please pray with us to engage more local pastors in discipleship and follow-up.
As academic dean of the Caribbean Theological Seminary (SETCAR in Spanish), Ryan teaches and oversees the Ministry Essentials Training Program (METP), leads training and translation, and manages our sustainability farm, which grows coconuts, passion fruit, and vegetables to help fund the ministry.
PRAY for God to provide local Christian counsellor partners for our Family Centre so we can continue to offer free high-quality counselling services to the community. (This area of ministry is in high demand, and we struggle to find suitable counsellors).
PRAY for God to give us wisdom as we mentor and raise up new leaders to direct our ministries, specifically for our Bible college, family ministries, and our sustainability farm.
PRAY for God to help our children, Liberty and Eddison, to thrive in their schooling and overcome some ongoing health issues.
