I (Helga), a Special Needs Educational Assistant, and I (David), an early retired Corporate IT Specialist, are partnering with Kim Hodgkiss in Trujillo, Honduras at Mision Verdad y Vida. This is a school for teenage girls who have come to the end of their government funded education to grade 6, and need a place to further their trade and academic skills, to give them a better life in Honduras, while being taught about Jesus, to give them hope for eternity. I (David) am using my IT background to update and support the school’s IT environment. I am also using my construction experience to support facilities maintenance. I (Helga) am using my sewing and cooking skills, combined with my education background, to support the school in development of trade skills
We have had a passion for international missions for a long time. Over the years we have supported global workers, had global workers stay in our home, watched family members go on mission trips, and accompanied our five children as they pursued short term mission adventures. For many years, our mission field was sharing the love of Jesus with our children and grandchildren, serving in our local church, and living out our faith at our jobs. Recently, I (David) have early retired, and we have felt our desire to pursue volunteer missions rekindle. We are hoping that our passion for Jesus, our passion for youth, and our life skills and experience will be useful to Mision Verdad y Vida.
