With the outbreak of war in Ukraine, it’s estimated that almost five million Ukrainians fled through Poland, with well over one million Ukrainian refugees still living there.
To help address the crisis, along with the support of fellow global workers Peter and Arlene Paluch, we launched two initial LIFE Centres for displaced Ukrainians in various cities in Poland. These are places where Ukrainian families can receive help such as food and clothing, language training, haircuts, prayer, and counselling. And what’s more—these centres transition into churches on Sundays, and we’ve witnessed many come to faith in Jesus! We also provide programs for children and youth and lead many special events for the families.
From 2022-2023, we served over 5,000 guests/families who regularly visit our centres in Warsaw and Lublin. Since then, we’ve also launched additional centres in Lodz and Gdansk. We’re now receiving invitations to set up centres in other cities.
In 1983, we came to Christ, and after years of active lay-ministry, left our professional vocations to pursue full-time ministry. We joined the pastoral team at Calgary First Assembly, and in 1993, after the collapse of communism, we led teams into Russia to share the gospel. Sensing a call to missions, in 2001, we moved our young family to the UK to join Next Level International to facilitate church planting in Eastern Europe and are an integral part of the PAOC Eurasia Team.
