Our family is currently working at VOH Malawi (VOHM), a ministry to children in extreme poverty. We (Jef and Renatta) serve faithfully as the Director and Administrator of VOHM. We work with a local committee of community leaders to identify children who are amongst the most vulnerable in the area. We partner with the caregivers of each VOH child to support them through education, healthcare, nutrition, discipleship, and child safeguarding. About 500 children are now supported through VOH Malawi. Additionally, more than 40 Malawians are employed full time at the centre. The families we serve live in the same community as the centre is located. VOHM is a high-density and extreme-low-income peri-urban community called Kauma which is in Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe. Each day VOH children walk from home to the centre to attend classes at the school and access the other programs. I (Renatta) am also an adjunct faculty member at Master’s College and Seminary where I continue to teach online courses.
We have been serving in Malawi, Africa since November 2014. Before moving to Africa, I (Jef) worked as a plumber, a youth pastor, and served on the board of his church. I (Renatta) served as the administrator of our home church for five years, and I have been teaching at Master's College and Seminary since 2008 both online and on campus.
